Comparative study between fat plug and inlay butterfly cartilage grafts for myringoplasty in adults

Abstract Background This study aims to compare the graft uptake rate and hearing improvement of fat versus inlay butterfly tragal cartilage in repair perforations chronic otitis media mucosal adults. In this retrospective study, twenty-eight patients were included with small dry anteroinferior tympanic membrane (less than 1/3 membrane). The age range was 18 44 years old. Myringoplasty done under general anesthesia for 8 a (FG) 20 (IBCG). Six months postoperatively, follow-up evaluation successful outcomes. Results success first group (fat graft) 6/8 cases (75%) while second (IBCG) 19/20 (95%) no statistically significant difference ( P = 0.0148).
